{ DIY Personalized Subway Art }

   A great way to fill up wall space is by adding art....personalized art!  This is a piece I created using a variety of fonts, sizes and verbage.  Our verbage is all the different cities across the states we have lived in!  It has the places my husband and I were born, our current city, the city we met in, each city we grew up in, where we went on our honeymoon and a few of our favorite cities.  Who doesn't LOVE Vegas?!

   Now you don't have to be a fantastic artist (I'm not) to do this.  If you can't free hand the letters then you can use a projector.  A local library should have one you can borrow so you just have to take your board with you there (they don't let you check them out).  You can use Power Point to add your text.  You can use a variety of fonts, sizes and text directions...just play around with it and have fun!  I paint my board before the lettering and then distress that baby and stain on top to make it look old.  You can't really mess it up by sanding too much, staining too dark or even uneven lettering!  That's just the way it's supposed to be, right?....perfectly imperfect!

   Personalized art also makes great gifts.  I did the board below for my dear friends.  In their board I mixed it all up.  It has their 3 pets' names in there, where they met, each state they are from and the day they got married (looks like a license plate!), their names and the streets they grew up on.
